I remember during my childhood years spending summer vacations in Chicago at your Mom and Dad’s apartment. At that time you were married and Art still lived at home.
We met for dinner and would go to your favorite Kosher Deli. It was near Eunice’s house and she was one of your most favorite cousins besides me.
You remind a lot me of my brother Ronnie. The two of you of course grew up together and were so much alike. I can look back and see the two of you in exciting conversations and or debates.
I am so happy that I was able to attend our family Memorial Day Party at your house on Memorial Day 2021.
Also, it was so nice to talk to you last week on the phone.
Looking back I really think you and Eunice kept our family together like glue. However, when Eunice passed away Linda took her place as your co-pilot.
Now it is up to us!
Love you, Mel! Say hello to the rest of the Cogan family in Heaven for me.
Love,
Becca

I’ve only met Melvin a few times but he was always very real and warm. The way he said that he was glad to meet Steve’s friends and appreciated that Steve had friends, was very sincere made me understand that it was important to him. We got our kitchen table from Oster Furniture and now and then when I look at it, I remember Melvin & Steve.

Our relationship with Mel was two-fold: first, we consider ourselves extended family since Jerry and Ilene Grofman are our first cousins. We always enjoyed seeing him and the rest of the family at Jerry’s holiday barbecues on Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day. Secondly, we consider ourselves friends and satisfied customers, since much of the furniture in our house was purchased from him. Whenever we did see him we always enjoyed spending time with him and having great conversations. Unfortunately, since there haven’t been any more barbecues at Jerry’s house, we haven’t seen one another in a while. We were so saddened to hear of his death and we send our heartfelt condolences to your family. May his memory be for a blessing.

We are dear friends of Mel. We have been close friends of the Grofmans since the early 70’s. Through them we met Mel and his family. We grieve the loss of a wonderful friend.
